16/06/2020 (JUBA) – the South Sudan People’s Defense Force spokesperson, Maj.Gen Lul Ruai announced the killing of the 7th October movement leader, Kerubino Agok Wol on Monday 15th of June 2020. He termed the process as ‘Neutralization’ by the South Sudanese army who killed the rebel leader in an Eastern Lakes State village where he was temporarily based.
While announcing to media sources –Eye Radio in his office in Bilpam in Juba, the spokesman warned the general opposition that SSPDF and security agents will get rid of them.
“Let me make it very clear as SSPF have a constitutional mandate to protect this government from armed forces whether from within or externally. Let those carrying out subversive activities against the government reassure that we’ll be dealing with you, we’ll be tracking you down and get rid of you wherever you are”
South Sudan up to date has 3 rebel groups: NAS (National Salvation Front) headed by Gen. Thomas Cirillo, a former head of SPLA IG logistics, SSUF (South Sudan United Front) headed by the former Chief of Staff Gen. Paul Malong Awan and SPLA-IO headed by Dr. Riek Machar which has signed peace agreement with the government in the September of 2018. SSOA (South Sudan Opposition Alliance) is also opposed to the status quo but have along with SPLA-IO signed the same peace agreement.
The revitalized peace agreement implementation continues to worry many South Sudanese as a deadlock on the appointment of governors and formation of state and administrative areas governments have not been broken.
