The arson attack happened last night when Thiik Majok Makom and Akok Deng Acuil youths sneaked into Romic CBD and adjacent homes, burnt them down and took off after the County police and Luanyjang youths arrived at the scene. They retreated to Langchok in Thiik according to SSDTV.

Romic Town police described the incidence as a “mere cowardice” committed by anti-peace and anti-progress elements and vows that Warrap State Govt “would take the matter seriously”.

According to sources, Luanyang/Luacjang youth calls for calm and urge the state govt to strongly condemn Thiik and Akok or intervene to arrest the situation, promptly investigate, and possibly prosecute the persona masterminding all these kinds of quagmire in Warrap State.

Last week ,and like other incidences before, a Luac man destined for Luacjang by road from Akok was killed by Akok youth and his cattle taken. This kind of killing or disappearance has had happened before to Luac road users on foot but last night attack on Romic has taken Luac aback for it appears so strange at the time of peace.

The scenario is said to be a political motivation.

Tonj East County has been a subject to high insecurity since the disarmament process took off mid this year and with thousands starving, the situation is likely to deteriorate if not curbed or put to an end.
