The newly appointed governor of Warrap State, Lt. Gen. Aleu Ayieny visited the community in Gogrial East to build peace and reconcile, Ramciel has learned.

During the visit, Ayieny urged the community to abandon the communal fighting and embrace peaceful co-existence.

The visit came after the weeks of fighting within the state between the rival clans in Warrap.

Speaking to a local resident, the situation seems to be calm after the governor’s visit.

“Lt. Gen. Aleu Ayieny Aleu came yesterday to see the condition of the people fighting all the time. He came with a lot of soldiers and ready to crush those willing to continue with this nonsensical fighting. He is here for a peace mission.”

“There have been communal fighting in this state. As a popular man and also a powerful general with influence, visiting these people is a key to uniting the state and building peace among the local people. He is a peaceful man who believes in the unity of South Sudanese. We are happy to see him here.”

President of South Sudan H.E Salva Kiir Mayardit ordered the governors of the states to go to the people in the ground in order to strengthen peacebuilding among the people. He recently visited Bor to inspect the great Juba-Bor Road currently under construction.
