Upper Nile State sidelined for further ‘consultations’ in RTGoNU’s disorderly move into 2021

The President of the Republic of South Sudan is set to announce the deputy governors of some states as Upper Nile State whose governor is announced awaits.

The formation of states governments is expected to be completed by the end of January next year.

According to the office of the security affairs, the security advisor, Tut Kew Gatluak announced this evening that the president will proceed to announce the names of the deputy governors with out the Upper Nile as the consultations are strill being done over the appointment of the state’s governor – General Johnson Olony.

“Today the President of the Republic, Salva Kiir Mayardit, would issue a directive for the appointment of deputy governors for the states except for Upper Nile state because it’s awaiting conduct of a general conference involving sons of the state,” Tut Gatluak said. “After which the government of the state shall be formed. In the allocation of positions in the states, the positions of governor in Upper Nile goes to SPLM- IO, and deputy for the TGoNU. But the President requested people of Upper Nile state to dialogue amongst themselves in a conference before their state government is formed.” said Tut Kew while talking to media sources.

There have been critics over the appointment of Johnson Olony especially by those serving in the pre-Revitalized Transitional Government of the National Unity.

Olony is strongly rejected by the government’s party – SPLM -IG.
