United Democratic Resistance Movement/Army-UDRM/A hails former SPLM/A-IO Chief of Staff as “a shinning hope” for the people of South Sudan.

According to a press release seen by Ramciel, UDRM/A chairman Thomas Tut Doap Jiek said the movement held a meeting that officially endorsed Gen. Gatwech.

“UDRM/A hails General Simon Gatwech Dual as a shining hope in stilt darkness. On the night of Saturday – Sunday, 4th of July, 2021, the Leadership Council of United Democratic Revolutionary Movement/Army under the able Chairman and Commander-In-Chief, Thomas Tut Doap Jiek met and extensively deliberated on the historical and patriotic move made possible by SPLA-IO Chief of General Staff, Ist Lt. General Simon Gatwech Dual Hoth.”

Tut said Gen. Gatwech’s decision to fall out with the SPLM/A-IO Chairman FVP Dr. Riek Machat Teny truly reflects the “slow pace implementation” of the September 18ths, 2018 peace accord.

“In his popularly galvanizing objection to the appointment widely seen as sinister, 1st Lt. General Gatwech cited regrettable slow pace implementation of September 18th, 2018 peace accord, now trudging in its fourth year. Case in point is the failed implementation of security arrangement lauded as the centerpiece of any workable peace pact.”

UDRM believes the movement shares the same sense of concerns with Gen. Gatwech over the Khartoum Peace Agreement that made them stayed out in the first place.

“What the 1st Lt. General opines is one among several shortfalls of the four-year-old Khartoum peace agreement that made UDRM/A, as a prominent constituent member of SSOMA, cautiously hold out since 2018. Such failing makes UDRM/A and SPLA-IO’s holdout faction under Ist Lt. General Gatwech legitimate partners in opposition to the peace deal made right from starts impractical by General Salva Kiir Mayardit.”

“In solidarity, therefore, UDRM/A cordially extends its revolutionary salute and congratulation to Ist Lt. General Simon Gatwech on his unequivocal stand in forfeiting his interest for that of South Sudanese people, making him first of a kind high profile official to turn down a lucrative post in a country where senior citizens are obsessed with power and its trappings.”

UDRM/A threw its support behind Gen. Gatwech ready to stand with him both politically, military, and morally.

“And further assures him and his gallant forces of un-reserved support morally, politically and militarily if aggressed by predatory force of President Salva Kiir Mayardit and his perennial archrival turned friendly First Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon.”
