The SPLM party’s acting Secretary General, Jemma Nunu Kumba has reminded the SPLM-appointed governors that they were not put in position by the people but the party under the leadership of H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit but also urged them to perform and deliver to people.
According to a Statement released by the South Sudan Presidential Unit which reads:
The recently appointed state governors of the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity on SPLM ticket took oath as the SPLM interim States Chairpersons before their party Chairman, President Salva Kiir Mayardit, at the SPLM General Headquarter in Juba on Wednesday.
Addressing the SPLM members, President Salva Kiir expressed his unhappiness on what is happening in greater Jonglei State and appealed to the leaders of Jonglei to call their people to stop communal conflicts. President Salva Kiir urged the people of South Sudan to stop revenge killings, stressing that peace is very important.
The SPLM acting Secretary General Jemma Nunu Kumba told the appointed State governors that they were not brought into the positions by communities but by the SPLM party through vetting and urged the governors to strictly abide and cooperate with the party throughout their tenure in office at their respective states. Nunu Kumba urged the recently appointed governors as SPLM chairpersons to bring people together at their respective states.
Speaking on behalf of the governors, the governor Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil said, they will provide adequate services to the people at their respective States, Adil said, they have no doubt that SPLM will remain united for the people of South Sudan.
A Senior member of SPLM Political Bureau, Daniel Awet Akot said, SPLM is very strong and will always remain strong than other political parties.
On behalf of chief administrators of the three administrative areas, Kuol Diem Kuol of Abyei Administrative Area appealed to all the people to forgive one another through the differences that occurred during the war and unite behind the leadership of the SPLM.
SPLM has been the ruling party South Sudanese have ever known.
