Controversial youth leader Muslim Gore is now criticizing moves to bring in 1st LT. Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual to be the new leader of the rebel movement.
Recent events surrounding the removal of Gen. Gatwech shocked the global supporters of the rebel movement, SPLM/A-IO.
Observers are concerned about who will be the next leader of the movement, as this could determine the future of peace in the young nation.
Gore, a youth leader and spokesperson of the Democratic Resistance Movement (DRM), believes that any “wrong choice” made by the rebel leadership to appoint a non-political leader is a redline and could lead to SPLM/A-IO failure.
Gore said a politician cadre should be the possible replacement to FVP Dr. Riek Machar Teny as rebels struggle to find a successor. Hon. Duer Tut Duir is his ideal choice.
“The fastest way to kill the SPLM-IO is to appoint this General as the new Chairman. If Gen. Simon is serious, then he would take the advice he is now receiving to endorse General Duer Tut Duer as the new interim Chairman of the SPLM-IO.”
Gore, like many others, is concerned that any non-politician leading the SPLM/A-IO could end the movement within a short period because of the lack of political ideology that will attract others South Sudanese to join the fight for reform.
“The New Chairman of the SPLM-IO and anything short of that will result in a deadlock, you have been very vocal for a whole year while others are silent until the last moment.”
