05/06/2020, RB – In a move motivated by a sudden failure of Juba-Rumbek Highway, President Salva Kiir Mayardit sacked the minister under charge of the Presidential Affairs, Hon. Mayiik on 2nd June and replaced him with a long time serving member of the ruling party, SPLM. In a live broadcast by the South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC on 4th June) Nhial Deng Nhial, during his swearing in, promised to bring changes and putting in priority what ought to be done.

In an afterwards meeting, H.E. the Vice President Taban Deng projected to his colleagues in power that any failure will not only be attributed to Kiir, but the whole of SPLM party as well. Drawing much empathy, the vice president hinted that they could at the end be held accountable for any failure just like the North Sudan’s National Congress Party which has its boss, the former President, Omar Bashir under custody in Khartuom, under the new leadership of prime minister H.E Hamduk. Taban Deng Gai then bottom lined his talk by saying,

“Your excellency it is time to move this country forward”

A senior retired SPLM member in the same meeting, blamed the First Vice President by alluding that,

“Yes, position have to be given but with a meaning and not for promotion”

Gen. Daniel Awet Akot blamed Dr. Riek of appointing Hon. Elizabeth Achuei in a move that otherwise seem to be pointing out her incompetency.

The meeting revealed a clear sense of seriousness of the ruling party and how they are ready to jet the country out of the impoverishment and insecurity.
