
19/06/20 – (Tambura), SPLA-IO forces in Tambura County of Western Equatoria State are calling on the peace monitors to surge into and investigate an incident that left its more than ten of its soldiers and a commander dead. The troops and their commander were killed at the cantonment site amidst cease fire and peace implementation era.
According to Radio Tamazuj, the spokesperson of SPLA-IO in Tambura, Maj. Joseph Costa, says
‘A joint operational of local community members and organized forces’ attacked the Namutina cantonment site on Wednesday this week and killed Brig. Gen. Santo Natali Ali. Major Costa says at least 10 IO forces were killed when they fled the site to nearby bushes.
In recent months, the insecurity of the country has been on the rise with militias and army combatants knocking on, disturbing the peace agreement.
Despite such, there has not been a call from the top officials to venture in to these matters affecting even the grassroots, according to civilians.
