The Governor of Central Bank of South Sudan Gamal Wani Abdalla has lost grip of his job as President Kiir sacked him after prolonged unsuccessful struggle to resurrect the dead economy.
The governor with the sacked minister of finance and economic planning Salvatore Mabior Garangdit couldn’t save the economy after exchange rate spiraled out uncontrollably. The prices of the basic goods have hiked with no sign of dropping in spite of the traders being forced to reduce the prices by the government last month.
The current trading is $1:570SSP and it varies across.
In a Presidential Decree today, President Salva Kiir relieved the governor and reappointed his long time ally Dier Tong Ngor who was sacked earlier this year.
The sacking of the governor was meant to resuscitates the dead economy. But many have already questioned the reappointment of Dier Ngor as Gamal’s replacement.
