The latest development reaching our desk from the office of reformists indicates that Hon. Duer Tut Duir, the potential replacer of the SPLM/A-IO chairman, FVP Dr. Riek Machar Teny urges the supporters to cease online hostility language.
Duer perhaps is the only leader to aired out to address such concerns.
In a letter seen by Ramciel, the reformists are urges to engage in a professional political debate to distinguish themselves from the mainstream population “which lack clear” guideline on how to engage their opponents politically.
Speaking to Nhail Wat Nyang, a senior member of reformists who is known for hot political debates with their opponents on social media, he welcomes the move.
“All SPLM-IO reformists are requested to cease hostile language against ordinary members of the SPLM-IO who are currently in Juba,” Nhail told Ramciel on Thursday from Khartoum.
According to Duer, the target is the chairman, FVP Dr. Riek Machar Teny. All other members should not be involved.
“Our unique target is Riek Machar because he is the only one who betrayed the spirit of struggle of our fallen heroes and heroines and betrayed the cause of our struggle,” Duer wrote to members according to an internal memo extended to Ramciel.
He said other members of the SPLM/A-IO currently in Juba or those supporting Machar are under manipulation; thus, they should not be the target in the political debates concerning leadership changes taking place within the IO.
“Others are victims of manipulation and deception by Riek Machar, they will soon be for a change of the Chairmanship of the SPLM-IO as well as for restructuring, reorganization and reform of the Movement.”
Duer said building friendship is the way forward.
“Let us be friendly to them.”
The champion for the reform agenda within the IO is regarded as the best possible alternative to Machar. He focuses on restructuring, reorganizing, and reforming the SPLM/A-IO.
Sources within the circle of Hon. Duer told Ramciel that, their leader is gaining support from the international community as he is being seen as a resilient leader whose objective is to focus on the national agenda.
However, the source declined to mention which powers are behind Duer’s consistent call for reform.
He is gaining popularity as a reformers’ leader across the country.
