Presidency discussed to accelerate the unification of forces and develop a unified command structure

On Tuesday, the presidency met to discuss chapter 2 of the Revitalised Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan. The purpose of the meeting focuses on Permanent Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements, according to the press release seen by Ramciel.

The meeting was attended by His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit, First Vice President, H.E Dr. Riek Machar Teny, and Their Excellencies Vice Presidents Dr. James Wani Igga, Hussien Abdelbagi Akol, Taban Deng Gai, and Rebecca Nyandeng De’Mabior.

Senior Presidential Advisor on Security Affairs, Hon. Tut Gatluak Manime, and the president’s aid, Minister for Presidential Affairs, Hon. Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin was also in the consultation.

The meeting resolved the following:

1. To accelerate the process of graduating the unified forces and developing a unified command;
2. To relocate both government and opposition forces to the cantonment sites for further training;
3. To capacitate the Revitalised Transitional Government of National Unity to strengthen the unity of the people of South Sudan irrespective of their political affiliation; and
4. To extend the Police Graduation Ceremony of Batch 22 Cadet Officers to further prepare the requirements for their graduation.
According to the document, the president, mandated the Presidential Advisor on Security Affairs to mobilized the necessary logistics to support the process of the unification of the organized forces.
