The first Vice President and SPLM-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny has revealed that H. E Salva Kiir Mayardit rejected a  Nominee for the position Deputy Minister of Interior. the SPLM-IO submitted a female nominee from the oil-rich region of Abyei to President Salva Kiir Mayardit for approval as a replace for Mabior Garang De Mabior who deserted the position in 2020.

This was disclosed in a meeting held on Wednesday where Machar said his group several issues including the discussed the blatant the increased violations of the revitalized peace agreement by the president which sadly encompasses the President refusal by the to appoint the SPLM/A (IO) nominee which interestingly is a female to the position of Deputy Minister of Interior.

This nomination was submitted way back on February 1, 2021 by opposition leaders as their alternative to the said replacement of Mabior Garang De Mabior.

Its not the first time the rejections by President Salva Kiir is happening, earlier on last month, General Johnson Olony Thabo was rejected for governorship of the oil-rich Upper Nile state by the president over unexplained circumstances despite baseless claims of being a warmonger.

During the meeting, Machar sadly expressed his concerns “on the refusal by the president to accept the outcome of the Joint Security Mechanisms Workshop of May 10th-11th 2019, facilitated by IGAD and RJMEC and signed by the Joint Defense Board (JDB) Co-Chairs on September 9th, 2019.

This however remains a key issue in meddling the implementations of the Revitalized peace process agreement.
