A senior member of the country’s main armed opposition Sudan people’s Liberation Army in Opposition (SPLA-IO) has today been  detained by National Security Service has in Western Bahr el Ghazal state’s capital Wau.
Arbitrary arrests have been on the increase recently with the latest being the Brigadier-General Oliver Vilario Osman of the Western Bahr el Ghazal Lions of the SPLA-IO, went missing after leaving his house this morning
According to Brigadier General Charles Louis Juma, a commander of SPLA-IO said the opposition commander was arrested at midnight in Wau by members of the National Security Service and aren’t yet informed of reasons behind his arrest as per now.
A one lieutenant identified as Fasco Michael from National Security reportedly met Brigadier General Oliver inside a forex bureau in a market and was later taken to an unknown place by the lieutenant.
Brigadier General Charles Louis Juma was quoted earlier today saying “We are partners in the peace agreement, and they had to inform the party to which officer Oliver Osman belongs if there was a problem because he is a member of the movement. How Oliver was arrested is illegal and it affects the agreement because it is unethical.
He described the arrests as “unethical” especially at such a critical time that the unfolding  political events grow from tragic to worse hindering the implementation of the peace agreement, The National Security Service is yet to respond in regards to  this critical arrest.
