South Sudan political arena this past few days continue to ravel, the deputy chairman of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) Henry Odwar has resigned from his position as South Sudan’s minister of mining with effect from today.
Over the years, Odwar has been a remarkable advocate for the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement and the second most powerful SPLM-IO declining to give the official reasons.
In his resignation letter, Odwar said “With effect from today, 24.00hrs. Wednesday 11th August 2021, I Henry Dilah Odwar resigns from being minister of mining,” His departure from the group will cause an impact in respect to his position in the group and to the revitalized peace process in general.
Several misunderstandings have been growing within the main armed opposition Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition with the group’s former chief of staff General Simon Gatwech Dual declaring as the First Vice President.
