Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual forces have this morning attacked forces loyal to the First Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar at their base in a fresh fighting that started this morning South Sudan’s northern Upper Nile.
Earlier this week, unprecedented events which included the declarations to denounce Machar in an ouster among others have tremendously contributed to the current situations in the country.
In a confirmation, the spokesman of the SPLA(IO) Kitgwang faction, Brig. Gen. William Gatjiath Deng, highlighted that forces from SPLA(IO) forces loyal to Dr. Riek Machar attacked their headquarters in Magenis  (Kitgwang) this morning.
The rivalry between the two leaders, Machar and his former Chief of Staff Gatwech reached its peak as events unfold to a completely deteriorating twist leading to this morning’s attack by forces loyal to Machar.
The political raw came up as a result of a refusal by former Chief of Staff Gatwech in taking up a political position in Juba. He however expressed his concerns and pointed out that the security arrangements in the peace agreements are not being implemented.
This however prompted an equalized response from Machar who replaced his former Chief of Staff Gatwech by appointing Lt. Gen. Gabriel Duop Lam, to his position.
