Kenya cancels school year 2020 | Pandemic Costs

The Kenyan Cabinet Minister for Education, George Magoha had said that the primary schools and secondary schools in Kenya will remain closed until the January of 2021. While speaking to media today, the CS said that the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) will not be done this year due to the Coroanvirus pandemic and its health precautionary measures taken by the government.

“Faced with this uncertain environment, the stakeholders have resolved to reopen all basic education learning institutions in January 2021. This is based on the assumption that the infection curve will have flattened by December 2020,” he said

Concerning the tertiary institutions, the CS had said that it depends on the institutions to meet all the necessary health guidelines and other precautionary measures such as social distancing for them to be reopened. This means that the case is still under evaluation.
