Somalia and Kenya part ways as Somalia cut its diplomatic ties with Kenya citing constant violation of Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Somalia Minister of Information Osman Dubbe announced this at around 1:40 am Mogadishu time on state-run SNTV.
Dubbe said Mogadishu will in the next seven days withdraw all its diplomats from Kenya
“Somalia wants all its diplomats to go back to Mogadishu and Kenyan diplomats have seven days to leave the country,’’ Dubbe said.
The escalation of the diplomatic spat which has led to a ‘divorce’ came hours after Somaliland President Muse Bihi arrived in Kenya on December 13, for a three-day state visit.
“Somaliland is the federal Member State of Somalia. It, therefore, has no legitimacy to directly deal with Kenya especially now that we have severed our diplomatic ties,” part of the tweet read.
