South Sudan’s politics with division among leaders continues to be on the increase. Earlier this morning, the spokesman of the SPLA(IO) Kitgwang faction, Brig. Gen. William Gatjiath Deng, confirmed  that forces from SPLA(IO) forces loyal to Dr. Riek Machar attacked their headquarters in Magenis  (Kitgwang), a situation that has left at least 30 South Sudanese soldiers killed and 13 injured in today’s clashes.
After a scheduled mid-week meeting on Wednesday, SPLA-IO’s sector 2. spokesman Major Yai Pazala in a statement said all the commandants met to reaffirm their loyalty to the people of South Sudan under the wise leadership of Dr. Riek Machar Teny, the Chairman and Commandant in Chief of the SPLM/SPLA (IO).
Confrontations reached its Kilimanjaro peak later on Thursday as former Chief of Staff Gatwech issued an invitation to other armed groups to join their struggle in the liberation of South Sudan from the regime of president Salva Kiir.
This move triggered the clashes that saw at least 30 soldiers killed today. Dr. Riek Machar forces retaliated by attacking the headquarters of Gen. Gatwech based in Magenis  (Kitgwang) in the country’s Upper Nile region this morning which has fatally claimed the lives of his soldiers.
The recent clashes have undermined the legitimacy of the implementations in the ongoing country’s revitalized peace process,
In a statement issued earlier today, deputy spokesman for General Dual  confirms that they have so far lost one soldier and two others sustained injuries.
