South Sudan’s former petroleum minister Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth last week offered an explosive amount worth $20,000 to General Simon Gatwech Dual who later rejected the offer according to a senior opposition official allied to General Gatwech based in Khartoum. On Tuesday, General Gatwech announced a declaration to remove Dr. Riek Machar as SPLM-IO leader.
The former petroleum minister Gatkuoth has a track record of causing disunity ever since the return of civil war and in the 2016 fighting when forces loyal to Machar clashed with those loyal to Kiir at the presidential palace.
He is also accused and held responsible for speculated efforts in acting as an engineer of many defections that have taken place within the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition led by First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny.
