The Economic Crisis Management Committee now wants all transactions of foreign currencies done through the commercial banks in the country as a measure to help revive the collapsed economy.
While speaking during a meeting, the speaker of the committee, Hon. Puot Kang said that all transactions of foreign currencies should be channeled through the commercials. This process applies to all the firms like UN agencies and Diplomatic Corps, both the national and international.
“Any currency coming to the country must be channeled through banking system….all local transactions as well as international transactions should be conducted in South Sudanese Pounds directed by minister of finance and planning and Central Bank of South Sudan drive a circular to that effect….”
“Transfer outside should not exceed 10,000 US dollar otherwise you must explain why you are sending such huge amount”
