A disturbing revelation from an anonymous source points to South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A) under the leadership of General Paul Malong Awan is behind this week’s deadly ambush which left at least five people including two Catholic nuns, dead and others suffering serious injuries.
Speculations running on social media accuses the Malong-led group of being behind the attack, but an opposition spokesman allied to Malong denied in a statement that the group is behind the attack and condemned the sub-sequential unwanted attacks on South Sudanese peoples along Juba- Nimule highway and to the Catholic Diocese of Juba in particular and that of religious personalities this week.
The anonymous source close to Malong who said he was not allowed to speak to the media over the matter but confirmed that the group was behind the attack and the purpose was to cut off Juba from supplying states of Uganda and Kenya and that it was accidental that the ambush resulted in the killing of innocent civilians.
The anonymous source also accused President Salva Kiir and his army chief General Santino Deng Wol of working against the ongoing talks in the Italian capital Rome and alleged that troops had been brought to Central Equatoria region from different parts of the country for confrontation with the rebel group.
