The South Sudan national team (The Bright Stars) is set to tackle the Cameroonian national football team (The indomitable Lions) on Saturday 10th of October.
This was announced last month by South Sudan Football Association and as well the Bright Stars’ social media outlets.
“South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) has accepted an invitation by Cameroon Football Federation to play a friendly match against Their National Team A and Bright Stars on the 10th of October 2020 in Yaoundé. SSFA will soon summon the Bright Stars squad,” read a statement posted on the association’s website.
The Bright Stars, managed by former Under-20 Lions of Cameroon coach Ashu Besong, will travel to Cameroon with a squad that last played competitive football four months ago.
Cameroon’s coach Yves Clement Arroga finds himself in a similar predicament as his charges gather this month for a training camp.
It will be the first time for the two to meet.
Off late the Bright Stars have had a few friendly matches with local football clubs such as Amarat FC of which they won all.
The friendly is though meant to serve as a preparation for the AfCON 2022 January that will be hosted in Cameroon.
Currently, the Bright Stars are down the table of the qualifiers group with Uganda, Malawi and Burkina Faso.
