June 16, 2020 (RB), In a surprising move that shocked South Sudanese in the diaspora, South Sudanese women finally came out to speak on twitter and Facebook against those who allegedly have sexually abused them for years. The thread which is now virally named and tagged nearly 50 men who participated in the sex cult. More are expected to be added to the list.
Some of these girls or women were abused when they were just 12-15-year-olds. Nyalok Yat currently living in the Washington D.C, the United States who posted the thread wrote;
“As of recently a lot of South Sudanese women got the courage to finally speak up on being sexually assaulted, which was done by our own South Sudanese men, these are their stories….”
Most of the women hide their identity, but two in particular (Nyalat Biel and Sunday) came out in a long Facebook Live condemnation, detailing these particular incidences. The women already received extensive applause and praise for their courage. Among the top of those mentioned are Khor Gony (U.S), and rapper Riak Riak (from Australia), among others. For years, these South Sudanese women in the diaspora claim that they have no one to turn to for help. They called for justice and social reforms among their men. The supposedly predators haven’t responded to the allegations.
Nyabuoy Gatbel is a South Sudanese – Canadian model, social entrepreneur, writer, and poet, weight in her opinion said she supported these women who came out. She called for an end to such abuse and demand for justice.

We cannot continue this way. I hope the elders wake up and change and do something to address these pressing issues within the community.
