An investigative committee formed by Kiir to establish possible cause of SPLA-IO conflict

The President of South Sudan’s  H.E Salva Kiir has EXTENDED his appeal to the waring opposition leaders to ceasefire and urged factions of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-In Opposition (SPLM-IO) to work towards attaining a lasting peace.
A senior Presidential advisor on National Security Affairs Tut Gatluak, said a committee has been formed to investigate the root causes of the division within the warring factions.
In his address to the press, Tut Gatluak said “After we signed the 2018 peace agreement, we don’t need to lose more lives to civil war. Now, we are moving towards unifying the forces but we are concerned by the declaration and fighting that took place in the Magenis area.”
He also urged the entire country to stay calm and reaffirmed their due allegiance to assure the people of South Sudan that they are committed to the implementation of the peace deal.
