Fierce battles took place last evening, Wednesday, February 3rd, 2021 in AKOKA county Upper Nile state, which is located near the Oil Field areas of Paloch and Adar. The battle was between the Government forces and the Nuer White Army forces of Ulang & Nasir counties in Upper Nile State, who have split from Machar movement.

The split -away group from the Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Opposition is on conquest of the IO and the government’s territorial positions in the war torn region – Upper Nile State according to sources. According to the armed group’s commanders, the differences that led to splitting emerged as a result of the appointment of the “not needed governor” as General Johnson Olony is said to be the favorite, or the needed one.

Prior to the clashes, it is however not yet clear who opened fire on the other first. The government has not yet commented on the matter as our efforts to reach at the SSPDF spokesperson were futile.
